The Z Factor Deep Classics Mix

When I started the Z Factor a year ago I did wonder how long it would last, and while making this show is still really just a hobby I have been amazed at the response from lots of you! I won't be amazing anyone with the concept of this week's show, yes it's a classics mix. Not quite a megamix but I've spent quite a while picking the tracks and making sure it flows a little more interestingly than a typical 2 hour session. I've attempted to represent the much deeper side of trance here (not the Anjunadeep side!), so put the likes of 'For An Angel', 'Gouryella', 'Airwave'...etc out of your mind and maybe next year I'll make a lighter mix to balance things out. Whilst I was visiting home over Christmas I revisited some of my favourite old vinyl shops, one of which proved particularly fruitful and I walked away with 16 great records for just over £10. I was so pleased with my purchases that I've used most of them as the basis for this week's show, in the first ever Z Factor recorded entirely off the black stuff. Look out for the dodgy mixing amongst some, many or fewer that you may not have heard before.

As is that wasn't enough the forum guestmixes continue with William Profota, probably best known for his large collection of usernames as well as the good work he does for Vandit and now Neuroscience. Having access to some upfront material has helped him provide us with a great tracklist, so tune in later today to hear it all.

Well I've not quite managed a full 12 months yet but the Z Factor is entering a new year, thanks to everyone who has been supporting it so far I've been extremely grateful. As it is you guys out there in forumland who are keeping me going, this year I am in the process of asking many of you to provide guestmixes for the show each week, and as time goes on there will be some form of voting system. At the moment I'm considering having a vote for the most popular every 3 months, so hopefully the earlier ones won't be forgotten about.

Kicking things off on the guestmix front is Rob Pitt, aka 'Rob P' who is no stranger to the show and has again provided a delightful mix of just good old trance. I've been in a rather nostalgic mood lately so for my part I've selected a few recent tracks which I think reflect the sound and style of the old mid-90's trance.

The Z Factor / The Z Factor Megamix 2008 (Saturday December 20th)

Well it's the final show of the year, and you know what that means: the inevitable, predictable, let's-look-back-at-the-best-tunes-of-the-year format. So what form will it take? A top 20 countdown? Nope. A top 2,500 countdown? Nope. A megamix? Nope. Oh wait yes, that one.

On and off it's been in the making since October but luckily it's a fair bit different than Armin's, so if you thought he'd missed out some of your favourites then hopefully I might have them covered.

Of course it doesn't end here, straight after the show Ant Attwood is continuing the marathon with another 4 hours (if he's finished on time!) of sliced up tunes so you're looking at around 250 tracks over 6 hours - now that's value for money.

Yes I'm here again, second last show before the end of the year. I've not been sticking to a regular format and this week is no exception as I thought I'd provide another featured artist section at the end of the show this episode. This time it's someone who has been responsible for some 'Absolute-ly' huge trance anthems, having changed his style between 2005-7 his 'Rise Up' again this year has put him right back where he belongs, and I'm sure his 'Legacy' will not be forgotten. Hello there, it's Z Factor time again, and assuming that I got the show uploaded in time it should be going out this afternoon. This week I've started off with a few new tracks interspersed with some old classics, although nothing that's been too overplayed. Then in the second hour I have a guestmix from... me. I'll be playing you my first ever radio appearance which was a guestmix for Steve's 'Red Division' show back in December 2006, a well thought out plan that is absolutely not because I was desperate to fill up an extra hour.

Summer is quickly fading, the leaves are falling and it's turning dark on empty car lots, which must mean that it's Autumn again. For some reason this is the season I most strongly associate with certain tracks, so I've combined them all into one mix which will air during the 2 hours of my show on Saturday. It overran slightly so the last few tracks will only be available through the replay, which will be up on facebook some time after the show. Prepare to hear some classic tracks by Signum, Chicane (hmm I wonder which one...), Lange, L-Vee, Thrillseekers, Ferry Corsten and Matti Laamanen amongst many others!

Hello there, the Z Factor is back properly after a few weeks of reshuffling due to various commitments, although I think I got away with it as I'm sure you hadn't noticed! This week I was due to have the famous Anjunabeats forum-er "Williamp" as a guest, but hurricane Ike has found a way to keep him away from this place for a little while longer so look out for that at a later date. Instead I put together a slightly different mix of funkier/proggy house tunes to fill up the second hour, so hope to see you on saturday!

Well I postponed the double figures celebration until I could actually do the show myself, so despite being the 11th edition this is now number 10. Still with me? This week I have a guestmix from an Anjunabeats forum member, who goes under the name 'Singularity' for his productions, but you'll know him as 'LeaX' on the forums. He's using the opportunity to try out some brand new material, and his traditional approach to trance will find favour with many of you I'm sure.

Hi there, you're probably wondering why this week's episode is #9.5?
