1. Original Mix
2. Daniel Kandi Short Mix
3. Daniel Kandi Club Mix
4. Joel Gershom Remix

To say there is a fair amount of hype around this release would be somewhat of an understatement!

Crowned Tune Of The Week on ASOT 403 by Armin van Buuren and voted Web Vote Winner on Trance Around The World with Above & Beyond. This has been without a doubt one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

A.M.R. blasted onto the scene last year with his double header As Time Goes By / Beach Sunset.
Now he's back with the fantastic Sand Dunes on Enhanced Recordings, with superb remixes from Daniel Kandi and Joel Gershom to boot.

Kandi's mixes display the best of the Anjuna-mans skills, adding huge amounts of power to the already excellently crafted original, whilst Joel Gershom turns out a fantastic prog-trancer with an immensely powerful breakdown and pulsing bassline!

Polls and Reviews / Arty - Vanilla Sky EP [Enhanced Progressive]
« on: May 26, 2009, 06:44:30 pm »

1. Vanilla Sky
2. Love Inside Out
3. Absynthe

Arty is a name you probably haven't heard of yet, however we strongly believe he will be a name on everybody's lips come the end of 2009.

Producing somewhere between trance and house, with really strong chords and melodies, Arty encompasses the best of both styles superbly.

Vanilla Sky kicks off the ep in superb style with really 80's influenced chords and synths. Love Inside Out is a fantastic melodic number that builds and builds, making it really hard to choose between it and Vanilla Sky or the lead track for this EP; don't be surprised if you support both! Absynthe is a darker, techy affair that rounds off this stunning debut EP in fine style.

Supported by: Andre Visior, Charlie G, Daniel Kandi, Danjo, Deep Voices, Digital Nature, Dimitri Kechagias, DJ Redstar, DJ Shah, Ernesto van der Meij, Estiva, Flash Brothers, Gil La, Graham Gold, Haris C, Jon O’Bir, Kane Nelson, Kenneth Thomas, Kris O'Neil, Kristina Sky, Kyau vs Albert, Maarten Hercules, Manuel le Saux, Mark Pledger, Matt Abbott, Matt Darey, Menno De Jong, Michael Angelo, Michael Badal, MIKE, Mike Shiver, Neal Scarborough, P.H.A.T.T, Paul Pearson, Pedro Del Mar, Probspot, Robert Geitleman, Ruben de Ronde, Sied van Riel, Signum, Suzy Solar, Tania Mann, Tom Colontonio, Tritonal, Xgenic, Will Holland and many more

Ehren Stowers is making a third appearence on the Perceptive Recordings label. His first release was called Icarus and only a few months ago he released the stunning piece called Both Worlds. On this release Ehren has teamed up with Alex Young. Remixes come from some of UK's finest Sly One vs. Jurrane and Rozza.

Original Mix
Starting out nicely with rolling percussion, delayed choir effects, claps, hats and a kick drum. A rise plus a stretched choir effect launches the a rolling acid line and next stop is the rolling bassline which is being placed on top. A dark progressive synth makes another layer add-on and this is where the melody starts to build and the progressive synth fades. The main melody feels euphoric and atmospheric. The break section is being carried by some great string and the heavy pads which makes out the 'backing' layer. Back to the main melody and next a techy drop with some cool delayed effects.

Progressive Mix
The progressive version holds some of the same elements as the original. The sounds has been modified with reverb which adds atmosphere and gives the sounds a more 'open' touch. The deep bassline hooks in the track really adds a great progressive mood. The whole structure in the tune is not far from the same and the surroundings have been given a progressive rework.

Sly One vs. Jurrane Remix
This would be the 2nd remix this producer duo has done for Perceptive. Some of their work tend to be very dark and moody but this is quite a happy and uplifting remix. The main leads are fantastic. One being a lush heavily delayed synth and one being a big saw lead. An overall beautiful melodic interpretation!

Rozza's 'Out There' Mix
I have followed Rozza's productions for some time now and he rarely dissapoints me. It is a bliss to hear that he is making progress in his productions; his sense of detail has improved and this reflects this mix. More interesting fill-ins are being used which only makes everything more interesting. I'm not sure why he named the mix 'Out There' as I feel this is his traditional sound. It does have some techy touches but nothing that clouds the smooth melodic trance feel. Gorgeous mix.

Verdict
I am all over the Rozza mix which is my pick. I have always enjoyed his melody chord progressions and his choice of sounds. The originals both hold some great sounds but I am not much into the combination of sounds being used in the break. I had actually hoped for the Sly One vs. Jurrane to be a tad more in-your-face, but they still get away with it though. Nothing short of a great remix.

Ehren Stowers Interview

We caught up with Ehren Stowers ahead of the release of ‘Ocean’ to see how he's been keeping himself busy and found out what makes him tick.

How long have you been producing?
I started off in dance music as a DJ first, having played in many top clubs for about 4 years before turning to production. I started producing in 2004 after meeting Andy Young at the first Trance Generation event we held in London. We got on well and shared the same passion for music, so he took me under his wing and we produced our first track together titled ‘Stowers & Young – The Second Coming’. We received a lot of support for the track from many high profile DJ’s. Encouraged by this success, we carried on producing together throughout 2004 and 2005. At the end of 2005, having learned a great deal from working with Andy, I then started producing on my own. Although working solo can be great fun (providing the freedom to take a tune wherever you want), equally I find collaborating with people just as liberating (bouncing ideas off each other can really help). Since initially working with Andy, I have collaborated with Corderoy, Mystery Islands, Simon Bostock & others. I love working with Andy, and having recently completed ‘Ocean, we are now working on a remix for Corderoy’s ‘Rock Guitar’ due out this summer on Insight. Like all trades however producing is never easy, so you need to keep working at it hopefully improving with every new step.

Which producers in particular do you take inspiration from?
There are so many inspirational producers out there. For me though Corderoy is a great inspiration, as is Solarstone, Simon Bostock, Ben Gold, Mystery Islands & Activa. Sly One & Jurrane are also on fire at the moment, as is evident by their recent remix on the ‘Ocean’ package.

What is your personal favourite from our own discography and why?
Twisted Symmetry – I think because for me, it was the start of a new chapter in my life and that is evident in the sounds used and the direction taken on the track.

What can we expect from you in the coming months?
I am currently busy working on a new techno/tech influenced track which is really exciting me at the moment. Although it will still be uplifting, it’s a bit of a departure from my previous releases. I have also recently completed a remix for Perfecto, ‘KT – Wish You Were Here’ – which is due for release shortly. Additionally, I have completed two EP’s for Alter Ego (featuring tracks ‘Tomorrow’, ‘White Sands’, ‘Quarantine’ & a collaboration with Mystery Islands entitled ‘Morphine’).

This is the 2nd time you have teamed up with Andy, do you have any plans for further collaborations with him or any other producers?
Absolutely, I love working with Andy. I also have plans to work with Simon Bostock & Corderoy again and hopefully Adam White.

Following the success of your tracks in the past 12 months, on a variety of labels, have you thought about an artist album?
I definitely have enough material for one, but at the moment I am focusing more on singles or EP releases. Never say never though!

Which producer/producers are you expecting big things from this year?
I wouldn’t be surprised if Ben Gold makes a lot of (good) noise this year.

The last 2 years has seen the fall of many club nights in the UK, still it has also seen the rise of huge success stories such as Digital Society, The Gallery @ Ministry and the continued rise of Electronic Sessions. Can we expect to see/hear more from your own ‘Trance Generation’ sometime this year?
It has been a tough time for the UK club scene, and in particular trance. Part of the reason for this is that many DJ fees are still too high. Although many artists can expect higher fee’s abroad, the fee’s need to reflect the local activity of the scene in order for it to be sustained. This indeed, has always been London’s primary problem as far as trance is concerned. Although The Gallery is the one exception (they however are consistently booking A class artists which always attract the crowds). For the scene to be vibrant the smaller venues need to be equally successful; this attracts more people into the scene which filters across the whole food chain. As it stands, many of the smaller nights just simply can’t afford the artists they need to sustain themselves. House/Electro is a good example of this - DJ fees are generally very low compared with trance, and as such are far more popular in London as a general rule. With Trance Generation, we always aimed to break these rules, in that it was a non profit organisation – every penny went back to the clubber in DJ’s, visuals, décor etc. Trance Generation has never gone away. Promoting is hard but rewarding work. As such, we took the ethos that we would only put on events when we wanted to. We have had a bit of break since our last event now – and as such I think it’s safe to say, that you will hear more from Trance Generation over the next 9-12 months.

What is your favourite club night right now?
It is still The Gallery – although I was cautious about the move from Turnmills to the Ministry – I have since fallen in love with the new venue. The Gallery was the night that first introduced me to Trance in early 1999, and will always remain at the top of my list.

Polls and Reviews / Bakke & Joni - Envision [Enhanced Progressive]
« on: May 11, 2009, 01:28:31 pm »

1. Original Mix
2. Kris O’Neil & Simon Gain Remix
3. Ilya Malyuev & Ormatie Remix

Terje Bakke & Joni Ljungqvist were responsible for the massive 'Bali' which was one of Enprog's biggest releases to date, and are without doubt two of the most respected producers within their genre.

After much persuading the talented twosome have finally got back into the studio together to produce the follow up. As you would expect this is classic groovy progressive trance with Joni's lush melodies.

Up first on remix duties are Kris O'Neil and Simon Gain. The pair turn out a huge bassline driven remix that Will Holland featured on the recent Digitally Enhanced Vol 2 CD.

Secondly, Ilya Malyuev returns after his fantastic remix of Elsa Hill's 'Lost', this time teaming up with prog wizard Ormatie to complete a hat-trick of collaborations on this project. They produce a wonderfully deep rendition of the original; slowing down the pace and creating a really strong atmospheric soundscape.

A very welcome return which pushes all the right buttons; a big prog-trancer for spring!

Tears In The Rain was released at the end of 2008 and was supported by just about every man and his dog and topped many of the store charts around the world, eventually going on to be our biggest release of the year.

Orjan Nilsen was a big fan of the track and asked for the parts to make his own version; having had several releases on Enhanced already we didn't think twice about letting one of Norway's hottest talents and one of our favourite producers take his own twist on it!

This is the outcome; Already supported by Armin on ASOT, this is a fantastic remix that takes the track in a totally fresh direction from its release last year, and as with all Orjan tracks causes serious carnage on the dancefloor!

Supported by: Armin van Buuren on A State Of Trance, plus Adam Nickey, Adam White, Big Al, Charlie G, Cressida, Corderoy, Dan Stone, Daniel Kandi, Sequentia, Deep Voices, Deepwide, DJ Shah, Ernesto vs Bastien, Estiva, Haris C, Jon O’Bir, Jonas Hornblad, Jussi Soro, Kris O'Neil, Kristina Sky, Maarten Hercules, Manuel Le Saux, Manuel Saux, Michael Angelo, Michael Badal, Mike Koglin, Mike Saint Jules, Mike Shiver, Misja Helsloot, Mystery Islands, Neal Scarborough, Neil Moore, Nick Chemical, Niklas Harding, P.H.A.T.T, Paul Pearson, Pedro Del Mar, Robert Geitleman, Ruben de Ronde, Scott Bond, Sied van Riel, Suzy Solar, Talla 2XLC, Tania Mann, Tempo Giusto, Tom Colontonio, Yaz, Will Holland and many more

Chad & Dave are once again ready with a new single and this would number 2 on Flashover. They have once again joined forces, with partner in crime and countryman, Christina Soto whom delivers the vocals. On this single you will find remix from 2 new Flashover producer profiles, Treadstone and JL Aleph thus an 'Air Up There' version by the boys.

Original Mix / Original Dub
This intro is heavily spiced with percussion elements, that are all shaped and equalized and fits in perfectly. The bassline, the melodies and vocal bits are making an appearence before a short break were the bassline, on its own, creates a good atmosphere. In the following stage we get the full package; the vocals and the grand melodies in full. The vocals are especially good - they aren't as cliché as vocal tend to be in the trance genre, and are somewhat fresh and playful. Great structure, great balance, great vocals and great melodies. What more can you ask for? Head straight for the vocal version!

'Air Up There' Remix
'Air Up There' has become Chad & Dave's 'uplifting' trademark and it is a project that gives them the oppurtunity to fullfil their singles by themselves and create an alternative to their own originals. This is therefore a more pumped up version with a heavier kick, brighter melodies with a trance boost and some sizzling bassline hooks.

Treadstone Dub Remix
This version starts off well, with some a great drum arrangement thus a little bit special and escalading build-up, which slowly works towards a nu-school progressive house themed peak. The peak consists of this massive riff with a big room vibe, which is followed by some banging drums.

JL Aleph Remix
The last version is very much in the same groove as the original. The same chord progressions with some alterations in the synth setup. The tempo has been drawn down a few notches, to possibly aim for the more house oriented segment. The percussion has also been given a makeover.

Verdict
What is most remarkable about this single, is that this is a big step forward in Tritonal's developement as producers. Their sense of detail feels better and the track feels fresh og exciting. Christina Soto also deserves a bit of the honour here for delivering her best vocals to date. As mentioned earlier, the lyrics breaks out from the usual and the trance clichés. The 'Air Up There' version does what it is supposed to and creates a good euforic atmosphere, but it does not possess the same unique qualities as the original. JL Aleph does not add anything groundbreaking to the track, but on the other hand he does not ruin it either in any way. Treadstone's version has that booming progressive house sound and with an impressive amount of energy in the center and a slight techy theme which makes it ideal for club use.

Digital Society Recordings (DS-R in short), a new Enhanced Recordings sublabel. Digital Society are already known for their massive trance events in the north of England and now, this brand will also offer some tasty trance. The music on offer is very much a natural extension. First release is from Joe Garrett, whom have created quite a stir with his Temple One productions.

Check out this new ep which holds lush melodic trance, were Afterglow is acting as a light but bright trancer with a pounding bottom end. Paradox is the evil twin brother being the slightly darker of the two.

Joe celebrates his release with DJ dates for Digital Society in Leeds, Peterborough and in Sheffield for the mighty Gatecrasher as part of an Enhanced and Digital Society arena.

Watch out for more material on Digital Society from Artists such as Alex M.O.R.P.H. & Woody van Eyden and Manuel Le Saux.

Russian Sasha Virus debuts on Enhanced with his vocal collaboration with Dilara.

A laid back, melodic progressive track with a swelling bass and airy pluck lead, built around the sultry tunes of Dilara results in a really classy outing.

Remixes come from two of Enhanced's 'wonder kids' Estiva and Sindre Eide, who have both seen huge reactions to the recent promos of their new releases. Sindre takes the track in his brilliant progtrance style, really adding pace to the proceedings whilst using the vocal superbly around his new lead. This track was used to close Disc One of the recent Digitally Enhanced Vol 2 CD, and was noted a highlight by Mixmag.

Estiva once again goes for the Tech route, and having seen support across the board for his Tech rendition of 'Fading Freedom' he produces and essential take on the original; and fans of the latter won't be disappointed!

Brand new single from one of Scandinavias hottest trance DJs at the moment. Kris O'Neil has played alongside names like Paul van Dyk, Sander van Doorn and Solarstone. Just about a year ago Kris remixed Johan Gielen's "Physical Overdrive" which was also released on Tunes For You (Gielen's own imprint). In earlier projects Kris has worked with producers such as Stalker, Daniel Kandi, Niklas Harding and Cressida. This time he has teamed up with Josh Money whom is delivering the vocals for this release.

2. "Those Mornings" (original vocal mix) 06:36
3. "Those Mornings" (Rusty Beach Bar mix) 06:49
4. "Those Mornings" (Rusty Beach Bar vocal mix) 06:49
5. "Those Mornings" (radio edit) 04:11

Original Mix / Original Vocal Mix
The original version oozes of spring and summer. It sounds like something straight out of a In Search of Sunrise compilation with the lush summer tones and the brilliant percussion. As for the vocal; I think it comliments the track perfectly and this is probably one of the best tracks Josh has sung so far.

Rusty Beach Bar Mix / Rusty Beach Bar Vocal Mix
This version is slightly more 'heavy' with a driving bass and some techy sounds. The whole balearic feel has been toned down and the melody shines a bit more through, in this track. A version which would suit those club nights alot better.

Black Hole have been churning quality out lately and this is another winner. Not to miss!

His last offering on Enhanced 'Strawberry Fields' was crowned Tune of the Month in the world's biggest music magazine- Mixmag, and his recent collaboration with fellow Enhanced artist Marninx entitled 'Casa Grande' on found its way onto the massive In Search Of Sunrise series from Tiesto.

Later this spring, Estiva will show us what he is capable of behind the decks, when he teams up with Temple One to deliver us Enhanced Sessions Volume One - a new dj mix series from Enhanced artists.

He warms us up for this in classic Estiva style with his beautiful melodies and stunning overall production.

Every track packed with emotion, as with all Estiva EP's make it very hard to pick a favourite. First up, is Les Fleurs which optimises his style, gorgeous summer trance, you really could be forgiven for thinking you're on a beach when you hear this; stunning.

Fading Freedom picks up the pace but continues where Les Fleurs left off, and Estiva has crafted one of his superb Tech mixes that takes the track towards the business end of the night.

Finally and definitely not least is Like A Dream. A more chilled progressive outing from Estiva, however still encompassing all the elements that make this guy someone we are so fond of.

Good luck picking your favourite... this is brilliant stuff if we may say so ourselves!

Hokkaido is a collaboration between Invisible Sounds and Michael Witness who debut for the first time with the lush tones of Ange.

Confidence see's the threesome turn out an impressive laid back prog trancer, built around the soft, tender vocals of Ange, and deliver us both the original and progressive mixes.

Remix duties fall with Enhanced's MoodFreak and hot young Russian Mango, with his second remix on Enhanced.

MoodFreak turns out his best work to date; gloriously funky-housy-prog-trance (or whatever pigeon hole you want to stick it in!!) that pushes all the right buttons with some great touches throughout the rework.

Mango again demonstrates why he is one to look out for this year with a solid rendition in his own unique style.

A very hot all round package!
