Title: Download Sites Screwups
Post by: lex4i on May 05, 2006, 01:24:51 pm
Is anyone else having problems with download sites seriously cutting off the end (or the start) of files?  I mean fade outs at the end so you just get a "shelf"?  Sometimes even parts of other tracks at the end of the download file?  Everyh orrder I do at a certain d/l store (rhymes with Meatsport) at least one track is like this.  It's unacceptable.  But they just say that the label sent it that way.  DOn't the labels care their stuff sounds like crap?

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

I don't buy much digital music since I have a messed up CDJ and would rather put that money into vinyl, but all my digital purchases have been pretty good. When I burned them sometimes they did have a little cut off at the start, but I think that was my burning software since the file was fine.

I liked EDMDigital because of their compatible mp3 samples (instead of some proprietary format such as Real or Flash) and a website that wasn't 100%  Flash.

A label would not send it that way every time. Maybe once a mistake, but I'm sure they'd correct it. They're giving you the run-around. I'd try another company to see how they are.

Sorry Mark - the standard excuse is the labels sent it to us that way, so that must be how the track ends - right in the middle there bud, we're quite sure - but I know it's crap because I have the original vinyl and it has 5 more secs of fade-out.  I think the only way to fix it is to point it out to the artist, it's still unacceptable.  It also makes transitioning to all digital impossible.

Man, I love bitching in the forums, it's fun.

I have the same problem with "Holden & Thompson - Nothing (93 Returning Mix)" ... I bought it from beatport and apparently there seems to be a bpm fck up @ 7:00 . I emailed them and they said it was like that ... which I think is B.S.

I might contact Holden and ask him ...

yea I have had a few problems with bad downloads on a number of well-known sites. but every single time I've received a quick response and usually a resolution within a day or so.

a couple of them even provided free tracks in addition to the help.

It's happened to me too guys, although I usually buy 20 or so tracks at a time, there's been a few occassions where there's been an error in at least one.

Whenever i've contacted Beatport about it, they have sorted it out.
