Time zone problem
« on: May 18, 2007, 08:52:48 am »
Hi, people!

I want to listen to some of the shows that you broadcast here, but since I live at GMT+2, some of them are in inconvenient times for me. So I figure I might automatically record them somehow & listen to them later. But the time zones in this site puzzle me. Must be something to do with incorrect DST calculations, but still... I'd hate to miss an hour. :p

So, for example, the forum shows me, that the server time is 02:50PM now (14:50), while actually it is 03:50PM (15:50) here. If you live in the same time zone as the forum (and all the shows happen exactly at the time given in the calendar), does it also have a 1 hour time shift, or not?

Hi, and welcome to the forums and station :).

As a test, I set my time preferences to GMT +2 and set "DST Correction Option" to "Automatically detect DST settings". What this got me was the forum reporting that the current time is GMT +3 (10:xx PM), which appears to be the correct summer time for your country.

If I look at the calendar now for a random event, say Gabriel Batz's Montreal Mix Sessions, it shows 1:00 - 3:00 AM your time. Minus 3 hours from that to get to GMT would be 22:00 GMT. Minus another 4 hours to the current US Eastern time would be 18:00 Eastern, which is the correct time for his show.

So in short, as long as the bottom of the forum says the correct current time in your area, then the shows should be at the correct times for you as listed on the calendar.

What are your time options currently set at (User CP -> Edit Options)?

Hmm... curious... when I logged in a minute ago, it said GMT+2 and was one hour off again. Then I changed the DST setting to "Always On" and it changed to GMT+3, and now the time was correct. Then I changed it back to "Detect automatically" - and now it stays at GMT+3, showing time correctly. :)

OK, I think I figured this time thing out. :P Will see if I get the show. :D
